Paris gunman had "racist" motive

(MENAFN) As per AFP, citing sources "close to the investigation," the shooter who shot and killed three people in Paris and injured four others admitted to investigators that he had a "racist" motive. According to reports, the suspect has a history of committing violent crimes against migrants.
According to an anonymous Police officer, the gunman remarked "he didn't like Kurds" when being apprehended, according to the 20 Minutes daily newspaper.
Based on French media, the 69-year-old former train conductor was found carrying a US-made army Colt 1911 handgun, "two or three filled magazines," and a box of at least 25 rounds.
As per police and court officials quoted by AFP, the guy is suspected of using a sword to stab at least two individuals at a migrant camp in December 2021.
According to the news agency, he was convicted of armed violence in June 2016 and appealed the decision.
A year later, William M. was sentenced to six months in jail on a suspended basis for illegally carrying guns, according to judicial authorities.
On December 12, the suspect was freed from detention while awaiting prosecution for the sword incident. According to the Paris prosecutor's office, the man was barred from carrying firearms and from leaving France.
